Working for 5 months in public bank so far has been a great experience for me!!! one month to go for conformation and im just hoping for the best =]. Last saturday, 25th of Oct, region 4 had our 1st ever anniversary at ONE WORLD HOTEL. i was involved in staff performance....it was hell of a crazy dance!! needless to say, practicing session was tiring...together with heaps of work and time spent traveling to kepong & klang for dance practice. overall...IT WAS GREAT!! here are some pics =]

wow....for the past 5 days....i slept like a......."sleeping handsome prince"?...suddenly out of the "colourblind" moon i kena fever on tues...then wed...MC...thurs MC....fri...MC...today...MC...zzzzzzzzzzz......tmr...i dun care man!...im going to work~!!!!!!!!!!!

throughout these few days....i slept so much...soooooooooo much.....so much that...im afraid of sleeping....coz everytime i sleep...wake up sure temperature rise again...and sorethroat 99....=[...life was tough...body was HOT (i memang hot wan btw..lol)...and...everyday i will makan gardinea bread...drink plain water....100+ and....ohmy...thats all?..no wonder im so slim now...(i memang slim all these while..lol)...darn..since when i become so perasan?..

a DIFFERENT life

life has been pretty hectic and stressful for me....ever since i started work on 2nd of june. everyday processing housing loans, learning new stuffs. banking is a whole NEW WORLD for me! i know dr yati is going to kill me when she knows that im working in bank now...instead of a job which is related to biohealth. i just wana explore a different field and gain more knowledge =]

life has been very very very different from me since march this year. i tend to look at things differently (for some reasons). i heard over fly fm that "if we love a person, we should let her/him go". its quite true tho. who doesnt want freedom? who likes to be tied down by their partner? its sad to c the person that we love, loves other person. sad to say that some of us does not have fate to live happily ever after with the person we love. sometimes i feel that it is so unfair...but then again...everything happens for a reason. im not going to whine about it...i will face it with a smile =]. as long as she's happy, so m i.

good news...............im SHOULD be getting my 1st month salary this wednesday!!!...yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! ambik kau!!! im going to save some money every month....for a better future=]

just came back from sabah last nite....super tiring journey. 10 days at UMS...was...GREAT~!!! sad thing was...no chun chicks, have to wake up at 6am everyday, stress play chess everyday, eat "same" food everyday (either that or carcinogenic food)...great thing was....i won GOLD for men's individual event, had dota and super mario training everyday coz i brought my laptop there...lol...even wei li and kenneth also addicted to dota d now...haha..wats the proof?..after playing double chess til about 230am...i went back to sleep coz i was too tired...and wei li dota til about 530am...and kenneth played super mario til that time also...that also wei li said he gota drag kenneth back to room...

nyway...shazwani won gold for um in the women's category...and loi won silver...so basically UM dominate chess =]...UM netball team won gold, basketball guys lost horribly in the finals to upm...pingpong and taekwondo also won a few golds i guess..i've always enjoyed representing UM to play in chess tournaments...get allowance,free shirts,tracksuits,jackets,cap etc...

btw, i will be starting work on monday, 2nd june!!!...wowowowoowow....so happy...i will be working as a credit analyst trainee at ss15 public bank branch...so near my hse =]...hope everything will be fine...have a look at some sabah pics =]

its finally over =]...after cracking my brains for 1 whole week playing chess...finally its over=]...no more chess for this year...=]...UM team A (my team) won best local team and i got 6th placing in the individual event...YES!!!...after 3 years....i finally get top 10!!!....haha...gerald soh han loong is back!...surprisingly...i didnt really prepare 99 for this tourney...but i defeated a FIDE MASTER from iran...and NEARLY defeat an INTERNATIONAL MASTER from iran also...sigh...so close =[...unlucky i guess...hope that i will get a NICE FIDE RATING =] *pray hard*

currently im pretty busy participating in a chess tourney...though this year abit sien cause powerhouse such as russia and china tak datang...but NUS and IRAN are pretty scary countries...as in they have good chess players...so far out of 5 rounds...i won 4 and lost 1...not a bad performance le...top 8 so far...my target...get top 10!!!...my last year in uni...and last time playing in this competition...hope my dreams will come true..and hope i can get a goodie FIDE rating =]...there are 100+ players i think..so getting top 10 is =]

tues night (25/09/2007) was one of the worst night of my life!!!...i skipped cc tanglung at taman jaya just to study at medic fac library for my coming test...and i ended up losing my NIKE bag...not just any bag...sarah jiejie bought it for me...from australia!!..and my "shoe" keychain, i bought it from vietnam!!!...and the worst part was...my lab coat is in the bag....scientific calculator....house and kolej room keys...fork&spoon...and...CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........WTF!...gg...its an old canon camera...but i my sis bought it for rm1500 last time...omg...im so dead...with 512mb sd memory card in it!!..and lots of videos and pics!!..ARGHHH!!!...GOD,y r u being so cruel to me?...(i "forgot" that i left my camera in d bag coz i seldom use it!!!) =[

1) 24/9 - drug anaysis test + medical entomology drama(abt ticks)*belum revise*

2) 27/9 - endocrinology test *belum revise*

3) 1/10 - medical entomology test *revise abit*

4) 2/10 - THE ULTIMATE lab test (every single !@#!@ week of lab work we did [abt 8 chapters] will be compiled into a 20+ page structure+essay questions)...y cant they just give us test every week? *confirm sure kena pawn kaukau*

5) 9/10 - chronic diseases test *belum revise*

its been a looooooooooooooooooooong time since i last sit down....relax...and read my motivational books....its been there on my book rack since the beginning of this sem....only read halfway through...sigh...right now, im feeling VERY tired indeed. for the past few weeks...my life is all about chess,CHESS,CHESS and chess. participate in chess competition, practice chess, organize chess competition...blablabla...thanks GOD last night was the last event about chess for me. i can now put a fullstop to it until december. chanel handbags playing chess, no doubt is a passion, enjoyment, hobby for me...but at this challenging international level...its CRAZY!!!

i have 2 weeks of studies and thesis to catch up on....im starting to freak out doing thesis d....seems to be getting "bad" results for my tests=[...2months left...and i have to pass up my literature review and materials&method....lab test will be on 2/10/07...which i flunked it last sem...this time i gota do better! and finals will be during november...sigh..

im starting to think that i hv a VERY VERY VERY poor memory...lately...i seem to forget things easily....misplace things....macam symptom nyanyuk la..omg....here are some of my tragedies...=[

1) sometimes i cant even rmbr ppl's name...eg u tell me ur name....few minutes later....i will be like...errmm....what's ur name again?...darn brain cells!!..but i do rmbr ppl's faces easier =]

2) my friend ask me to pass some stuffs to another friend of his....just a bag containing camera box with charger etc...i hope takde camera inside!!!...and...on that day itself(wed), i wanted 2 pass to her...but she wasnt free....so "postponed" to fri lor....but lately i was kinda busy travelling home and to kolej n everywhere...as far as im concern,i left her things at my kolej room....but...I CAN'T FIND IT!!!!!...its already 1 week+ later d...=[

mmm....dont know y im writing this post, but be prepared to know the "truth"!!!

1) the 1st thing i do when i wake up early in the morning is..............SNEEZE!!!...yea...sneeze, not yawn...wat the...maybe got some lenglui miss me every morning..lolx...jk...and i do have a "Sensitive" nose...meaning 2say "allergic" to dust...or fluctuations in temperature?...eg if u ask me 2enter a super cold room(from a super hot weather outside)....and my weakness is...i do have "nose block" from time 2 time...so sometimes got some foul smell, i just cant smell it?..darn...=[

2) im a righthander....and i wear my watch on my right hand...(my watch is quite old d tho..*wink*hint*)..lol...ppl always think that im a lefty...nope,im not! and everyime i wana write or play chess,i gota take out my watch -__-ll...i still tak faham how those squash and tennis players play with their watches on!!!...i do feel uncomfortable tho

i knew something was wrong when i "failed" my eye test during BCG injection in standard 6....people laughed at me cause i failed in a test where....nobody can fail?...nyway...throughout my schooling years...i love drawing n painting...ok, to be frank i suck in drawing...but painting..=]...my mom and sis are very artistic tho...my dad however is very good in sports(particularly in table tennis and lempar cakera)...im doing fine in chess,futsal and badminton=]...

nyway....it was until after form 5 that i officially tested that im colourblind..=[...when to consult my uncle who happen to be an optometrist. then in UM also some student affairs officer asked me to "confirm" with UH doctor regarding my colourblindness...wtf...waste so much of my time travelling and WAITING at UH. chanel handbags

chess is like part of my life....i play it every....every...year?...not everyday cause lazy ler..lol..but i think i gota practice "everyday" to achieve my target as top 10 chess player in msia by 2009...nyway...before,during and after playing a chess game in tournaments....i always give my "best pose"..haha...as in how u sit...how u think...how u move...how u win(in style)...everything ler...cause...there are many spectators...and its very stressful...darn tension...if u win ==> happy, if u lose ==> embarrassing...yikes...its not easy to concentrate man...esp when suddenly got 1 super lenglui staring at u playing...haha..but chess no lenglui la...sad =[...these r some pics in masum...

ANYWAY....I was targeting at least top 3 in this tourney...seeded 6...and sigh...disaster happened in the 3rd round...i MISSED a CHECKMATE!!!!!!!!..WHAT THE tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...and i ended up losing that game...omg...guess i memang karat d...lost my touch...=[...but then...there was still hope...if i win the remaining 4 rounds...i still can get 2nd placing(rm 250)....but the last round..sigh..potong stim....blundered here and there...have to settle for a draw...and...with 5.5 points out of 7...i got a horrible 8th placing in the end....=[=[=[=[=[=[=[

when i was a little boy,7 years old...i was just like any other kids,play badminton,carom,football etc with my neighbours(they've shifted =[)...then mom introduced me to a game called "CHESS"...end of standard 1,i joined chess club in my primary school(Sek Keb Subang Jaya).i didnt know much about this game,but i do enjoy playing it...as long as "play"..haha..i do enjoy them=]

standard 2 i started learning chess as in seriously...cant remember when mr seto(who coached other top national players like LIM YEE WENG,WAN KHYE THENG) became my chess coach but by standard 4 i begin to participate in chess tournaments.first tournament i got 10th placing(8TH ROYAL S'GOR JUNIORS' OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT, APRIL 1994, U-12)...year 1994 was the first year i started playing in MSSD,MSSS and MSSM...n eventually represented malaysia in "msia-spore chess challenge"..

few years later(1997) i was the "top" chess player in malaysia....under 12 ler..lol...i won the national age group, U-12 chess championship and represented malaysia to WORLD YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP in FRANCE. i did badly tho...that was the first time i've played in a "BIG" tourney...kena whack kaukau..lolz...great experience indeed =]

playing for selangor state was GREAT!...i was in the selangor chess team in the year 1995(perlis),1996(pahang) and 1997(selangor)...my 1st MSSM was at perlis,we managed to get a bronze medal.next year..we got gold=]...and 1997 i switced to individual event n have to settle for silver medal =[.

and then things started 2change after 1997. i stopped coaching. government excluded chess from MSSM for like...5 years?..due to budget or something...sigh..omg...what happened to the "chess world" in malaysia?...things CHANGED drastically..i was focusing more on my studies..ofcourse still join chess tournaments...performance was like a roller coaster ride...up and down..=[...then when chess was included in MSSM, i was studying lower 6 at samad,OVER AGE!!!..what the..=[

the funny part was...until now,i dont have a FIDE RATING...even some amateurs in chess nowadays have a FIDE RATING..lolz..i feel ashamed whenever i meet mr hamid(international arbiter).he "watch" me play chess since i was a small kid...and till now,im a "nobody"..=[...the other day he was saying.."gerald,u go vietnam to enjoy ar?"...common mr hamid!...i tried so hard!..but was VERY UNLUCKY....=[

i know no matter what i say,nobody is going to believe me(except GOD). in the first event of ASEAN UNIVERISTY GAMES in hanoi,the standard category(1.5 hours each)was the worst tournament i've ever played in my entire life...WORST!..out of 6 rounds...i won once,got 1 bye and lost the other 4 games..OMG..2 miserable points. next event was blitz(3 mins each- my favourite)..i vowed to play GREAT chess...but again, i failed...i guess i was too nervous...lack of experience?..the last event...rapid(30 mins each)...marcus gave me some good advice..."if we cant beat our opponents,draw is a great result", he said.so i played with confidence n didnt lose a round until the last round to wei ming=[

i guess i was not used to the system,in malaysia if we get 3.5 points out of 6 rounds, we will get about 40+ placing?..that is if there are like 50+ participants ler...in vietnam there were 13ppl...i got 3.5 points in rapid category n i got 5th placing..lol...I STILL CANT BELIEVE IT!...marcus should have advised me EARLIER!!...guess i was pushing myself too hard for a win...and end up losing...=[

au yoong has got his FIDE rating finally!...he's just like me,we meet each other in chess tournament since we were small kids=]...same fate,same uni=]...now he's gotten his FIDE rating(2127)...i just need 1 more rated game to get my FIDE rating(hopefully)...coming tourneys are MASUM(MAJLIS SUKAN UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA) which will be held in USM,penang...then MERDEKA tourney(on merdeka day ofcourse) and GACC(world chess championship in dec)...these 3 main events that i enjoy playing for UM..u hv free accommodation,allowance,free food,free jackets,trackbottom,EVERYTHING!...n the best part is...the winning prize money,u get to keep it..haha..=]

my DREAM...year 2009 i will be 24 by then which is 12 years after i first represented malaysia to france. i guess it is time for me to prove to everyone that GERALD SOH HAN LOONG IS BACK!!!...after getting my FIDE rating(hopefully end of this year),i hope to join various FIDE rated tourneys and hope that i hv the chance to represent malaysia to "important" tournaments etc.

If you prefer to study lying down (but most of the time i study sitting up erect!) , you may use your right side to study more effectively. The right hemisphere processes information from whole to parts.If you are right brain, it may be difficult for you to follow a lecture without the professor had given the outline first. If that is the case, it may be best for you to read the chapter before class or ask the professor to give you the topic and outline of the next lecture. You may also have trouble writing outlines if you are right-brained. You would write the entire paper and then last, the outline (if required).
